Shah Rukh Khan made a big cameo in the film Brahmastra as Vanarastra, which talked much after its release.
The Bollywood super-star appearance as a scientist wielding the Vanarastra was loved by the audiences and even sets off some speculation for a spin-off.
According to Indian Express, director Ayan Mukerji earlier spoke about what made the scene of Shah Rukh so different, explaining how it differed from the rest of the film.
Ayan Mukerji said the tonality of the Shah Rukh Khan sequence is sharply different from that of the movie, which is focused on its love story between Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) and Isha (Alia Bhatt). He said he liked how Brahmastra was wholesome and romantic in general, while Shah Rukh’s was nearly superhero-like in his playfulness.

Shah Rukh Khan Scene and Tone
He further paralleled the tone of the scene to Iron Man, where the character himself resides in a world of science. “If you actually look closely, you will see the tonality of that scene is a little bit Iron Man-like. We always thought Vanarastra would exist in the world of science, which is why we have shown him to be a scientist,” Mukerji explained. He said that in the scene, they were well aware of the fact that it felt exciting and different from the atmosphere of the whole film while shooting it.
Ayan Mukerji also claimed that Shah Rukh Khan’s heroic, joke-cracking avatar in the sequence made it an interesting one as well. “The tonality of that scene, because it is a bit of an item sequence at the beginning of part one, is different from the tonality of the rest of the film,” he said. Even though there was a change in the tale, Mukerji said that the shooting of the sequence was sheer fun.
Reflecting on the popularity of Shah Rukh’s cameo, Mukerji shared that he is seriously considering expanding the character’s universe. The filmmaker expressed interest in exploring the Vanarastra world in the future, potentially with or without Shah Rukh Khan reprising the role.
