Mission: Impossible 8, Venom 3 and More Halt Production

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, Venom 3 and Deadpool 3 have halted production due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Several major Hollywood productions including Mission: Impossible 8, Venom 3 and Deadpool 3 are being put on hold due to the ongoing actors’ strike. This comes while the Writers Guild of America strike, which has disrupted the TV industry and caused delays in multiple films, is still in effect.

Studios had been aware of the strike’s potential impact, and some projects had contingency plans in place. However, the strike still brings the movie business as a whole to a temporary halt, with studios focusing on completing already filmed scenes and making preparations for future production. “We recognize how much you’ve all done on your specific projects, and it’s disappointing when carefully laid plans have to shift, but constant change is the nature of the production business,” acknowledged Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito in an email to Marvel Studios staff.
“We deeply appreciate all your efforts to make the best of the situation, and we can all hope that a new agreement will be finalized soon so we can resume the great work we have in process,” Feige and D’Esposito added, expressing gratitude for the teams’ dedication and resilience. Although work on animated projects may continue with temporary voices, films slated for a 2024 release, such as Kung Fu Panda 4, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, Despicable Me 4 and Transformers One, may require actors for final dialogue recordings, potentially causing delays.
Some big projects that were already under production are Deadpool 3, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, which had already begun filming in London. However, the strike has interrupted production, leaving its release date uncertain. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2 was temporarily on hiatus for a press tour involving Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie. Filming is expected to resume after the strike, as the movie is set for a June 2024 release. Production for Venom 3 commenced in Spain, with Tom Hardy reuniting with writer Kelly Marcel, who is making her directorial debut. Details about the film are scarce, and the strike has disrupted the production timeline.
The impact of the strike is also likely to affect other films, including Beetlejuice 2, Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2 and Mortal Kombat, although confirmation on these halts is still pending.
