The first official look at Sam Wilson’s new costume in Captain America: Brave New World has been revealed. The suit notably differs from Anthony Mackie’s last appearance in his new Cap attire in the finale of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, with heavier shades of blue and a return to the goggles he sported as Falcon rather than the partial mask that drew some criticism for how it looked in live-action.
“It’s really his coming-out show,” director Julius Onah told Empire while discussing Wilson’s Cap. “It’s about putting him through the paces.”
Anthony Mackie’s first foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sam Wilson was in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He returned for Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, and then headlined the aforementioned Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It was here that he followed in the footsteps of his comic book counterpart by dropping the Falcon moniker and becoming the new Captain America following Steve Rogers’ retirement from the mantle.
Red Hulk Smashes His Way Into Captain America: New World Order
Footage of Brave New World was recently screened at CinemaCon, in which attendees were able to catch an early look at Harrison Ford as the new Thunderbolt Ross following the passing of William Hurt. And, as many savvy Marvel fans already suspected, Ross will seemingly adopt the alter ego of Red Hulk, as hinted at by a new batch of McDonald’s Happy Meal toys.
Captain America: Brave New World arrives in theaters Feb. 14, 2025.
